۞ History:
Things aren’t looking so well for Homura. She’s basically failing every class because of her disease, causing her fellow students to talk bad behind her back. This causes her to be depressed and Madoka decides to try and cheer her up. After Sayaka takes Hitomi’s notes (and then getting in trouble for it), the girls decide to hold a study session that could help better their grades. During P.E., Homura’s body wears herself out, causing the kids to bully her to the point where she pushes herself, causing her to collapse. Her teacher decides that it’s best that she stays inside, even though Homura tries and decline it.
During her walk from school, Homura starts thinking of suicidal thoughts causing her to open the barrier to the Witch Izabel. She is saved by both Madoka and Mami, who are beings known as Puella Magi. They return to Mami’s apartment where Madoka reveals that she was only contracted for a short time. Homura is fascinated by her friends, especially Madoka who continues her kindly actions towards the young girl.
The two Puella Magi, with Homura following them, go off to fight Walpurgis Night with Mami being easily defeated. Madoka defeats the witch, but sacrifices herself. Homura decides to become a Puella Magi, making her wish:
“I want to redo my meeting with Kaname-san. Instead of being protected by her, I want to protect her!”
Homura time travels into Timeline 2. She awakes in the hospital and once she’s transferred she tells Madoka about being a Puella Magi as well. Mami and Madoka train her, realizing that even though she possesses incredible magic, Homura is clumsy. That night, she decides to look up how to make explosives, which come in handy during their fight with the witch Patricia.
Walpurgis Night arrives again and Mami is quickly defeated just like in the first timeline. Madoka defeats the witch without dying, but in the process she becomes a witch herself, since the only thing that can come after a magical girl defeating the most powerful witch, to become an even more powerful one, as stated by Kyuubey.
Five seconds before she could reset the timeline, she is brought to the Kingdom of Ever After.
۞ Personality:
Shy, insecure, despairing – those are just some of the few words that could describe Akemi Homura. Before becoming the dark and cold girl she was today due to resetting the timeline so many times, Homura was one of the shyest things ever, a girl filled with so much insecurity and depression that she became a pretty easy target for Izabel, seeing as how witches feed off of depression and despair.
Homura has a lot of trouble talking to people and becomes overwhelmed when she is asked many questions all at once. Socializing isn’t a big thing for her since she spent so much alone time hospitalized and her absence from school. She feels vey alienated in new environments, which causes her to be very shy and quiet to new people, even when she pushed herself to fit in with her fellow classmates. She simply wants to be accepted by them but fails to do so.
There’s so much self-doubt in her because of her classmates bullying her behind her back and because of the flaws she has, she deems herself as useless or worthless at first. Her clumsiness and low test scores also adds to this problem since her peers expect so much from her and don’t understand that she had no time to study or warm up properly because of her heart condition. Her self-doubt problem gets better once her goal of wanting to protect Madoka comes in mind, but there is still a lot of self-doubt in her.
Timid and shy around new people, Homura opens up to a person when she gets to know them which is how Madoka and Mami became friends with her. Once she was able to trust them, she was opened up just a bit more. Especially with Madoka, the new Puella Magi wants to protect her best friend and save her from the fate of being a Puella Magi. Basically, once Homura becomes friends with someone, she will be a pretty loyal friend, though her actions towards them are nothing compared to her actions towards Madoka.
Madoka Kaname, her best friend and lifeline. Homura deeply cares for her and will do anything to save her. She admires her – a person who is full of light, hope and happiness that it seems almost impossible for her to become a witch. The raven-haired girl hopes to be like her one day, even though with her self-esteem and shyness, it looks pretty impossible for her to do so. But still, no matter what Homura will always be there for her best friend, even if she has to go through a million timelines to save her.
As stated, Homura is very clumsy, especially in battle. She is seen tripping over her own two feet and barely hitting enemies with a melee typed weapon. She is seen to work better with explosives, seeing as she only needs to move at a certain distance to attack her enemies. It can be described that Homura is intelligent in weaponry, more so explosives and anything related to those, due to her research from the internet.
۞ Magical Powers, Skills, and Weapons:
Because of her wish, Homura can time travel and stop time, allowing her to defeat enemies while they are frozen. Everyone but her is affected by this magical ability, since she is the one who controls it. The shield she carries, which represents protection, is the device that allows her to travel back in time and used as a regular shield of course. For the most part, a lot of her non magical abilities come from explosives.
Homura can also transform into her magical girl form, where her time abilities activate fully.

Homura can make explosives because of her dedicated research. It is also implied that since her parents aren’t allowed, she mostly does the cooking and cleaning around her house. Other than that, there’s not much Homura can do, but she’ll be happy to learn anything that can help her survive in this new world.

[ The mirror suddenly turns on and there in the glass is a sitting young girl, with childish braids in her hair and red-rimmed glasses. She looks a little nervous and meek and isn’t looking directly at the mirror. In her lap, there is a small kitten curled up and asleep. The girl has been petting the cat for some time now and finally, she clears her throat and speaks up. ]
I… I was wondering if there was any place I could find supplies, for the kitten. [ She moves the mirror down so they could take a good look at the orange tabby before settling it back on her face. ]
I could use all the help I can get, please. U-Um… [ Homura glances away, her face as red as a cherry. ] I-I’m sorry for being such a… Such a bother, I promise I won’t bother anyone else for a bit.
I just really don’t know my way around the area yet. So, I can use a-all the help I can get. U-Um, that’s all! I’m going now!

Even when she became a Puella Magi, she was still having some trouble with her heart. Well, she didn’t exactly wish for her illness to go away now did she? No, instead she wished for something more important and dearer to her heart.
“Madoka,” the name was barely audible as she breathed it out. Her best friend was someone she needed to save. She couldn’t just give up now. Homura forced her body up and with a slight stumble; she was back on her feet. She was shaking, though, her body still getting used to the kind of force she was pressing on it. She wondered how she was still standing; she could barely do warm-ups in gym and trust her – fighting witches was no gym activity.
Still, she would fight the pain if she continued to keep her goal in mind. As long as she did, the Puella Magi felt like she could take on the world. A soft smile formed on her lips, seeing her friend’s bright smile in her mind.
The voice of her friend interrupted her as she called out for Homura. The ravenette turned around to see Madoka and Mami up on the hill.
“Homura, there’s a witch nearby! We gotta defeat it!”
“A-Ah, coming Kaname-san,” she answered back, almost tripping and landing on her face as she ran up the hill to join her two friends. Madoka gave her a kind smile and a squeeze of her hand, reassuring everything would be ok, and Homura tried her best to give the same, bright smile back.
Even if I have to go through a million timelines, even if I have to do this for the rest of my life, that won’t matter.
